Riccardo Tisci and Nike: A Reunion in the Making
Reports from sneaker industry insiders suggest that Italian fashion maestro Riccardo Tisci is once again joining forces with Nike for an upcoming collection, according to Complex. This eagerly awaited collaboration will not only feature a range of apparel but also showcase special editions of the iconic Nike Shox TL.
Despite inquiries, both Tisci and Nike have remained tight-lipped about the project, adhering to their usual practice of silence regarding leaked information about forthcoming releases.
Tisci’s recent appearance alongside Nike executives in Paris has fueled speculation, particularly after his attendance at Nike’s April event unveiling Olympic products, where he occupied the front row alongside luminaries like Travis Scott and Nike CEO John Donahoe.
Nike and Tisci first collaborated in the 2010s, with their initial partnership yielding a diverse range of offerings, notably the 2014 Air Force 1 collection that included a distinctive calf-height women’s iteration.
Expressing his long-standing admiration for the brand, Tisci shared with Complex in 2014, "I have been obsessed with Nike. I've been wearing Air Force 1s for 15 years."
Following the success of the Air Force 1 line, Tisci ventured into redesigns of other Nike classics such as the Dunk and Air Max 97. However, not all creations endured, as seen with the Air Zoom Legend, a Chelsea-boot-inspired sneaker that faded from the scene after the initial release in late 2016.
After a hiatus at the close of the previous decade, Tisci and Nike aficionados eagerly anticipate their reunion, as no collaborative releases have emerged since 2018.
The forthcoming Riccardo Tisci x Nike collection is slated for a Spring 2025 debut, according to insider sources, promising a blend of Tisci’s visionary design aesthetic with Nike’s enduring legacy in sportswear and footwear.
