J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 "Rio"
Eight months have passed since we first glimpsed J Balvin’s Air Jordan 3 “Rio.”
Now, we have a closer look and a clearer idea of when this highly anticipated sneaker will hit the shelves. Adorned with purple to yellow gradients, the “Rio” serves as the successor to last year’s “Medellín Sunset,” this time honoring the Colombian artist’s son.
While J Balvin playing a game of outdoor basketball in New York City with Jimmy Butler is already a sight to behold, it was his footwear that truly caught the attention of onlookers. Revealing his fourth collaboration with Jordan Brand, the Air Jordan 3 appears in a fresh, never-before-seen colorway named “Rio.” J Balvin’s first partnership with the brand began in December 2020 with the Air Jordan 1 “Colores Y Vibras,” followed by the Air Jordan 2 in 2022, and the Air Jordan 3 “Medellín Sunset” in 2023.
The “Rio” colorway is named after his son, born in June 2021. This upcoming shoe is a sleek, black version of the popular model, featuring a black, solar flare, and total crimson abyss color scheme. The shoe’s base is crafted from all-black leather, accented with grey elephant print overlays on the toe and heel. Additional details include a multicolor gradient midsole, translucent heel tabs showcasing J Balvin’s logo, and other unique elements that tie the design to his son, Rio.
